Large and in-kind gifts

Businesses, SACCOs and groups can give more than the website allows, or give goods and services instead of cash.

Giving more than KES 1,000,000?

Tell us what you would like to fund. We will call you, agree the details and send bank transfer instructions with a reference so your gift is recorded against the right item.

Giving goods or services?

A printer, tailor, transporter, venue, caterer or trainer can give in kind. We agree a fair value, record it and issue a receipt, exactly as for cash.

Questions

How can I pay?

On the payment page you can use M-Pesa, Airtel Money, or a Visa or Mastercard card. Card payments work from anywhere in the world. You will see the exact total before you pay.

Is there a limit on M-Pesa payments?

M-Pesa limits a single payment (currently about KES 250,000) and how much one phone can send in a day. For larger gifts, pay by card, split the gift over several payments or days, or use the large gift form and we will arrange a bank transfer.

Can I give from outside Kenya?

Yes, by card. You will be asked for your country and a short declaration about the source of your gift. Kenyan campaign finance law restricts some foreign contributions, such as gifts from foreign governments, so we may have to decline or refund a gift that the law does not allow.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes. When your payment is confirmed you get a receipt reference on screen that you can print or save. Every gift is recorded with the donor’s name, contact details and amount, as campaign finance rules require.

What if an item is fully funded?

It closes automatically. You can pick another item or give to the general fund. If a payment fails, you are not charged.

Who sees my details?

Only the campaign’s finance team. Your name appears on the supporters wall only if you tick the box, and then only as first name and initial. We do not sell or share your details. See “How we handle your gift” above.

Does a gift buy me anything?

No. Gifts are voluntary support for the campaign. They cannot be exchanged for jobs, contracts, favours or influence, and no one should ask you for one in return.
